Isle of Skye Woodland
Highland Carbon is currently planning a project to be undertaken on the spectacular Isle of Skye, off the West Coast of Scotland. The project will comprise a rich diversity of native tree species. The planting will extend an existing established woodland.
The Isle of Skye is an established home to the White tailed eagle, which is one of the largest eagles in the world, and its cousin the Golden eagle. White tailed eagles nest in the tallest pine trees. So we hope to establish a possible future nesting location. There are a range of other species that will benefit from the project.
The planting location is very exciting as it is directly on the coast and immediately adjacent to a marine Site of Special Scientific Interest. In terms of offsetting capacity, the project will comprise circa 3,000 tCO2e. We look forward to telling you more as the project gets underway.
